Market Update for April 15, 2019
In Today's Update:
1) U.S. Equity markets closed slightly lower Monday on light volume after disappointing earnings reports from Goldman Sachs (GS) and Citigroup (C). The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 27.53 or 0.10%, the S&P 500 fell 1.83 or 0.06% while the Nasdaq 100 closed lower by 8.15 or o.10% and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 5.63 or 0.36%.
2) Crude Oil Futures slipped $0.36 or 0.56% wild Gold Futures fell $4.30 or 0.33% but did close well off earlier lows. The Bond market bounced slightly today and the yield on the 10-year Treasury Note finished the day at 2.554%.
3) Earnings season has begun and we have already seen a few surprises. Earlier this morning, both Goldman Sachs and Citigroup reported better-than-expected earnings but both missed Revenue targets, while Aphria (APHA) dragged down the whole Cannabis sector after reporting a much larger-than-expected loss.
