Market Update for April 23, 2019
In Today's Update:
1) A slew of better-than-expected Earnings reports helped U.S. Equity markets closed significantly higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 145.34 or 0.55%, and the S&P 500 added 25.71 or 0.88% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 105.56 or 1.32% and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 25.05 or 1.61%.
2) Crude Oil Futures continued to climb closing higher by 1.66 or 2.59% while Gold Futures dropped to a four-month low after a strong rally in the U.S. dollar. The Bond market traded higher and the yield on the 10-year Treasury Note settled at 2.569%.
3) This Earnings season has been a resounding success so far as most companies have reported much stronger-than-expected earnings. Today Coca-Cola (KO), United Technologies (UTX) and Twitter (TWTR) among others reported very strong earnings and all posted solid gains. Tomorrow, the earnings parade continues with reports from Starbucks (SBUX), Boeing (BA), Caterpillar (CAT), AT&T (T), Biogen (BIIB), and Domino's Pizza (DPZ) just to name a few.
