Market Update for April 25, 2019
In Today's Update:
1) 3M Company (MMM) and UPS Parcel Service (UPS) plunged on Thursday after both announced much weaker-than-expected quarterly earnings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 134.97 or 0.51%, the S&P 500 fell 1.08 or 0.04% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 16.67 or0.21% and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 12.52 or 0.79%.
2) Crude Oil Futures fell $0.84 or 1.27% while Gold Futures finished the day flat and the U.S. dollar was little changed. The Bond market traded slightly lower and the yield on the 10-year Treasury Note settled at 2.535%.
3) Another very active after-hours trading session today after Amazon (AMZN) smashed earnings expectations. Intel (INTC), Starbucks (SBUX), and Ford (F) also beat expectations while Mattel (MAT) announced a smaller-than-expected loss and is currently trading significantly higher after hours.
