Market Update for August 7, 2018
In today's video:
1) U.S. equities continued to climb and are now well within reach of all-time highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 126.73 points, the S&P 500 added 8.05 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 23.99 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 3.99 points.
2) Gold Futures dropped slightly today closing lower by just $0.70 due mostly to weakness in the U.S. dollar while Crude Oil Futures managed to gain just $0.06. The Bond market traded lower lifting the yield on the 10-year treasury note back up to 2.975.
3) Tesla (TSLA) shares surged after Elon Musk announced his plan to take TSLA private at $420 per share while both Disney (DIS) and Papa John's (PZZA) released quarterly earnings that were lower than expected. DIS is currently trading lower by 0.50% and PZZA is down over 4% in after-hours trading.
