Market Update for February 11, 2019
In Today's Update:
1) Stocks closed mixed again today as traders and investors wait for more details on trade talks between U.S. and China. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 53.22 or 0.21%, the S&P 500 added 1.92 or 0.07% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 9.71 or 0.13% and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 12.59 or 0.84%.
2) Crude Oil Futures closed slightly lower while Gold Futures slipped losing $6.70 or 0.51% after the U.S. dollar Index moved above $0.97 for the first time since December 26th of last year. The Bond market traded lower and the yield on the 10-year treasury note settled at 2.655%.
3) Gilead Sciences (GILD) released its much-anticipated results for the company's late-stage, placebo-controlled study designed to evaluate a type of chronic liver disease drug. Unfortunately, it did not meet its desired outcome without worsening the patients' condition. Shares of GILD are currently trading at $65.24 down $2.38 or 3.52%.
