Market Update for February 21, 2019
In Today's Update:
1) The Nasdaq 100 index snapped its 8-day win streak as U.S. Equities closed mostly lower on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 103.81 or 0.40%, the S&P 500 fell 9.82 or 0.35% while the Nasdaq 100 closed lower by 29.36 or 0.39% and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 6.11 or 0.39%.
2) Crude Oil Futures slipped slightly to close lower by $0.31 or 0.54% while Gold Futures fell hard losing $22.50 or 1.67%. The Bond market traded sharply lower and the yield on the 10-year treasury note settled at 2.692%.
3) It was a tough day for Tesla Inc. (TSLA) both in the news and on Wall Street today. The electric vehicle maker's Model 3 will no longer be recommended by Consumer Reports and customers have described nightmarish problems with returns and refunds. Shares of Tesla spiraled lower and closed down $11.33 or 3.74%.
