Market Update for December 30, 2018
In Today's Update:
1) Stocks closed mixed on Friday after a fairly low-range, low-volume trading session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 76.42 or 0.33%, the S&P 500 fell 3.09 or 0.12% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 5.03 or 0.08% and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 6.11 or 0.46%.
2) Crude Oil Futures closed higher by $0.51 or 1.14% but posted their third straight weekly loss while Gold Futures advanced $2.30 or 0.18% and are sitting near a six-month high. The Bond market traded higher Friday and the yield on the 10-year treasury note dropped to 2.718%.
3) The equity markets posted their first weekly gain for the month of December this past week but does this present an opportunity for buyers or short sellers? As we head into the final trading session of 2018, here are the key levels to watch.
