Market Update for December 30, 2018

In Today's Update:

1) Stocks closed mixed on Friday after a fairly low-range, low-volume trading session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 76.42 or 0.33%, the S&P 500 fell 3.09 or 0.12% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 5.03 or 0.08% and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 6.11 or 0.46%.

2) Crude Oil Futures closed higher by $0.51 or 1.14% but posted their third straight weekly loss while Gold Futures advanced $2.30 or 0.18% and are sitting near a six-month high. The Bond market traded higher Friday and the yield on the 10-year treasury note dropped to 2.718%.

3) The equity markets posted their first weekly gain for the month of December this past week but does this present an opportunity for buyers or short sellers?
