1) The Dow completed its fourth straight day of gains led by DowDupont and Procter & Gamble as U.S. equities closed mostly higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 143.07 points, the S&P 500 added 9.67 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 3.00 points and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 8.99 points.
2) Crude Oil Futures gained $0.26 at the official close while Gold Futures dropped $3.50 due to a rebound in the U.S. dollar. The Bond market was mostly flat and the yield on the 10-year treasury note is at 2.864.
3) Earnings season kicked off this week and some companies have already announced very strong numbers just like analysts expected. PepsiCo (PEP) beat expectations handily and shareholders were rewarded with a gain of $5.13 or 4.76%. Several financials like Citigroup (C), JPMorgan (JPM), and Wells Fargo (WFC) will also report earnings this week.
