Market Update for July 15, 2019
In today's update:
1) Stocks managed to close at record highs once again after an extremely quiet, low-range, low-volume day on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 27.13 or 0.10%, the S&P 500 added 0.53 or 0.02% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 14.04 or 0.17% and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 8.18 or 0.52%.
2) Crude Oil Futures pulled back on Monday closing the lower by $0.89 or 1.48% while Gold Futures posted a second straight gain adding $3.50 or 0.25%. The Bond market traded higher and the yield on the 10-year Treasury Note settled at 2.092%.
3) Citigroup Inc. (C) kicked off earnings season with mixed results. The bank beat earnings estimates but fell short on revenue and net interest margin. Shares of C dropped sharply at the market open but erased almost all their losses and closed lower by just $0.06 or 0.08%.
