Market Update for July 26, 2018
In today's update:
1) An odd record-breaking day on Wall Street ends in another mixed close for the major U.S. equity indexes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 112.97 points, the S&P 500 dropped 8.63 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed lower by 80.05 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 10.16 points.
2) U.S. Crude Oil Futures closed slightly higher while Gold Futures fell $8.90 after the U.S. dollar bounced back from yesterdays loss. The yield on the 10-year treasury note edged up to 2.982 as the Bond market traded slightly lower.
3) Facebook broke a record today posting the biggest one-day loss in market value by any company in Wall Street history. Today, after-market close, Amazon (AMZN) released one of its strongest earnings reports ever doubling analyst expectations. Amazon reported EPS of $5.07 versus $2.49 expected and is currently trading higher by 3.5% in the after-hours trading session.
