In Today's Update:
1) U.S. equities closed out Fridays volatile trading session with gains but posted significant losses for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 287.16 or 1.15%, the S&P 500 added 38.76 or 1.42% while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 167.83 or 2.29% and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 1.30 or 0.08%.
2) Crude Oil Futures bounced as well gaining $0.54 or 0.76% while Gold Futures pulled back and closed lower by $6.00 or 0.49%. The Bond market dropped slightly resulting in another rise for yields. The yield on the 10-year treasury note moved up to 3.162%.
3) In the week ahead, traders and investors should expect the same type of increased volatility that we experienced last week and should expect earnings season to ramp up. We will also get a number of economic data reports like Retail Sales, Business Inventories, Building Permits, Crude Oil Inventories, and Existing Home Sales all of which have the potential to move the markets.
